A Message From Marjorie Davison
Hi everyone, I am the CEO of the Nova Scotia Apprenticeship Agency and am excited to be leading Team Apprenticeship for this year's Women Build. Construction is a significant sector in Nova Scotia that depends on the quality of trained and certified trades people to ensure our houses and buildings are safe, functional and well built. The sector provides great training opportunities and viable careers in the skilled trades and is working to attract more women. Currently, only 6 percent of apprentices in Nova Scotia are women. The Agency is working hard in partnership with groups like Techsploration and Women Unlimited to change this statistic. We hope by participating in Women Build that we can demonstrate that women can do anything while contributing to better housing for Nova Scotians. Last year, I participated on the Dream Team. My photo is me with the certified Red Seal Carpenter who mentored me and my team on the site. I had a wonderful experience and helped raise $10,000. Please help me or any member of our Team Apprenticeship to reach our fundraising goal.

In Support of Habitat for Humanity Nova Scotia
Since 1992, Habitat for Humanity Nova Scotia has partnered with families in the province to build safe, quality and affordable homes. We offer qualifying families in our program an affordable, no-down-payment mortgage with monthly payments that do not exceed 30 per cent of their monthly incomes. In return, they invest 500 hours in volunteer work, even helping to build their own homes. We also operate the Habitat for Humanity ReStore in Dartmouth, a building supply and home renovation store that accepts and resells new and gently-used building materials, furniture and home décor items. The ReStore helps covers Habitat for Humanity Nova Scotia’s operating costs. This ensures more of your donor dollars directly supports our mission to build more affordable homes.
