A Message From CANS Developing Executives

CANS Developing Executives (D.E.) Group was formed in September 2001 to encourage participation from our younger CANS members. Members of the Developing Executives Group are under 40 and work for CANS/our member companies. Part of the group’s mandate is to give back to the communities in which we help build and live in. Our committee researched multiple charities and it was determined that Habitat for Humanity would be the focus of where our team would like to focus our efforts. We are hoping that our contributions will help propel Habitat for Humanity closer to their goal of bringing communities together to help families build strength, stability and independence through affordable homeownership.

In Support of Habitat for Humanity Nova Scotia
Since 1992, Habitat for Humanity Nova Scotia has partnered with families in the province to build safe, quality and affordable homes. We offer qualifying families in our program an affordable, no-down-payment mortgage with monthly payments that do not exceed 30 per cent of their monthly incomes. In return, they invest 500 hours in volunteer work, even helping to build their own homes. We also operate the Habitat for Humanity ReStore in Dartmouth, a building supply and home renovation store that accepts and resells new and gently-used building materials, furniture and home décor items. The ReStore helps covers Habitat for Humanity Nova Scotia’s operating costs. This ensures more of your donor dollars directly supports our mission to build more affordable homes.
