The COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted that many Nova Scotian’s don’t have a safe, affordable place to call home.  Nova Scotia is in the midst of an affordable housing crisis and we need to create more affordable housing options.

Despite pandemic pressures, Habitat for Humanity Nova Scotia we will see the Johnson & Adams families move into their new Habitat Homes in Spryfield  next month! Our volunteers have been hard at work to complete the build and we are so close to meeting our fundraising goal.

All proceeds raised will go directly towards completing this duplex for the two families.  A Habitat home is a stabilizing force for a family, better, affordable living conditions lead to improved health, stronger childhood development and the ability — and financial flexibility — to make forward-looking choices.

In Support of Habitat for Humanity Nova Scotia
Since 1992, Habitat for Humanity Nova Scotia has partnered with families in the province to build safe, quality and affordable homes. We offer qualifying families in our program an affordable, no-down-payment mortgage with monthly payments that do not exceed 30 per cent of their monthly incomes. In return, they invest 500 hours in volunteer work, even helping to build their own homes. We also operate the Habitat for Humanity ReStore in Dartmouth, a building supply and home renovation store that accepts and resells new and gently-used building materials, furniture and home décor items. The ReStore helps covers Habitat for Humanity Nova Scotia’s operating costs. This ensures more of your donor dollars directly supports our mission to build more affordable homes.
